Erdogan said that he cannot control the Turkish Army

Tayyip Erdogan in a diplomatic telegram sent in 2004 admitted he was unable to control the Turkish Army and put an end to the dogfights over the Aegean sea. The telegram was leaked by Wikileaks, and was published yesterday in the Turkish newspaper “Hurriyet”. The telegram was sent by Tayyip Erdogan after a meeting with Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot, just before the crucial meeting of the European Council in December 2004, which gave the green light to Turkey to begin accession negotiations with the European Union.
