Paphos Mayor Savvas Vergas has called on Paphos residents to boycott Cyprus Airways after the airliner scrapped almost two thirds of its flights to the local airport. Vergas called a press conference to ask Paphos people to stop flying in Cyprus Airways planes. Cyprus Airways has announced that it will no longer fly from Paphos to Athens, Stansted, Birmignham and Manchester and Frankfurt in Germany.
