President Christofias while speaking to students of University of Athens and University of Palermo said that Turkish Cypriot leader Eroglu is not willing to compromise and makes bridging the gap between the positions of the two communities impossible. Mr Eroglu is not willing to void any of the ‘citizenships’ that the so called ‘TRNC’ has issued over the years to Turkish settlers. Moreover President Christofias said that the Greek Cypriot side insists on having an island-wide population census under international control but the Turkish Cypriot side refuses in fear of the truth coming out about the number of illegal settlers living in the occupied areas.
