Weekly Crime Report

This has been a very violent weekend, the following is a summary of the criminal events of the past 3 days:

  • Friday 18th March 09:00
    Owner of a bicycle shop in Nicosia reported to the police that burglars stole bicycles worth 20000 euro.

  • Friday 18th March 22:00
    The police is investigating a murder attempt against the life of a 23 year old Bulgarian immigrant. The victim was found by the police in a blood lake and was taken to Larnaca General Hospital and subsequently transported to Nicosia General. He has extensive injuries on his back and lungs and his condition is critical. His twin brother was at the scene and claimed that he found him in that condition. The police arrested his brother because of evidence pointing at him as the murderer.

  • Saturday 19th March 01:15
    A bomb went off in a car that was parked outside the house of its 27 year old owner in Limassol.

  • Saturday 19th March 03:00
    A 23 year old woman was attacked while walking in Anexartisias Avenue in Limassol. The attacker, aged 25 about 175cm tall, first sexually harassed the victim and then stole her purse after beating her up.

  • Saturday 19th March 15:15
    During the football game between APOEL and AEL, an unidentified fan while trying to enter the stadium area reserved for the fans of the opposing team attacked a police officer sending him to the hospital with a broken elbow.

  • Saturday 19th March
    50-60 unidentified men vandalized the fan club of Omonoia in Limassol including cars which were parked outside.

  • Sunday 20th March 00:30
    57 year old British citizen was found injured outside a bar in Larnaca. Due to his extensive injures and breathing problems he developed, he is being treated in Larnaca Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
