Survey results say financial incentives the reason for foreigners in Cyprus

According to a survey conducted by Marketway in cooperation with Pulse Market Research which was financed by the European Union Solidarity Fund, third-country foreigners migrate to Cyprus mainly due to financial incentives and rewards. The aim of the survey was to identify the vulnerable groups of immigrants and recommend ways to address their needs and assist their integration to the Cypriot society. The survey identified as main vulnerable groups, the immigrants facing financial problems, groups of people facing social exclusion due to racism and the ones whose children are at risk from exclusion from schools. In order to assist these groups the experts recommend that the immigrants themselves should be given the opportunity to participate and propose actions that will improve their financial and working conditions. The experts also suggest that immigrant groups should be encouraged to engage into dialogue and exchange experiences with the local residents.
