Electricity Authority Cyprus posted the power-cut schedule online

EAC released the schedule for the emergency power cuts. You can read their press release with time table in Greek here and the machine-translated to English version here. The following PDF file lists the areas that are referenced in the press release.

Update: The schedule has been pulled off their site and is no longer valid due to the down-time of two more modules at the Moni Power Station today. We’ll post an update once they finally give us a new one.

SHOULD WE PAY V.A.T.Or even the repair of the station repairs if anything we should have an appolegy from the government and some compensation for having to do without electricity because of their mistake. For a mistake made by the Government. After all it was the governments fault in the first place for storing Explosives in the sun any-one with half a brain knows that when dynamite gets hot it sweats and becomes gelignite which has a higher explosive value.

Speaking as Peyia residents, we fully understand the need for power cuts, but looking down onto Coral Bay at night begs the question: Why are they allowed to light up the sky every night with their neon lights? This is a total waste of power when the majority of us are doing our best to conserve power and are often left in darkness!
Also would it not be possible to request all airlines to make an announcement to passengers on arrival the importance of not wasting power on non-essential lights etc which are often left on all night outside holiday villas!

I don’t know how is possible to loose 50% of capacity and only suffer cuts of 2 1/2 hours per day. I just think the work load and juggling that needs to take place is far too difficult to get right. If they said 4-5 hours at a time then it would be practical to achieve.

Universal area EVERY morning at approx 8:30 lasting till after 12, then back on again for half an hour possibly an hour then no power again in the afternoon. This seems like a lot more than 2 1/2 hours as mentioned. We all feel for those that lost loved ones because of this tragedy and are quite happy to suffer for a couple of hours a day while repairs are carried out but why oh why are there some areas unaffected by these cuts yet others (like Kato Paphos) it has become the norm?

Honestly, does everyone still believe them? They said – there will be only one 2 hours power cut per day, and we have had 2 until now.

Better is to be prepared for everything :).

The biggest irony is that people who installed PV solar panels on their roofs and generate electricity they still get their power cut off since they sell it to EAC and they buy back the what they use from the grid.

Has anybody noticed how all the government officials come out of those many “meetings”, wearing their 3-piece-suits and ties, without a drop of sweat on their foreheads….. Whilst we are melting in this 40 degree weather because we have the heart and the brain to save eectricity and not use AC.
