A Senior Police Inspector was arrested today after the police performed a surprise operation at the Nicosia old town which resulted in the arrest of dozens of Chinese women who are thought to be exploited for prostitution. From the operation evidence was gathered that pointed in the direction of the senior inspector. There was already suspicions against him even before the operation, after the arrest of a Chinese woman 25 days ago. The information suggests that the inspector was receiving money to help Chinese women remain illegally in Cyprus or enter Cyprus without the required documents. A warrant was issued against him and he is currently being questioned. In the meantime a detention order is expected to be issued by the court.
