According to the police a 16 year old boy from Limassol who is also facing mental problems, was sexually abused by a 48 year old man he met online, specifically on Facebook. The event was reported to the police by his parents who found about it after talking with the boy, about some hours he was missing from home. The victim met the man online and became friends through frequent conversations they had over Facebook. The boy agreed to be picked up with his online ‘friend’ at the public park of St John, was then taken to Lady’s Mile where the man raped him and afterwards returned him home and disappeared. The man was arrested and is being detained for 8 days to allow the police to investigate the case.
