4 students arrested for Monday’s incidents against Turkish Cypriots

The police issued arrest warrants against four high school students from Nicosia for the violent incidents against Turkish Cypriots. The incident took place on Monday during the student demonstration against the proclamation of the pseudo-state in the occupied north. A group of students at three different locations threw stones and firecrackers against cars carrying Turkish Cypriot number plates causing material damages and minor injuries to their passengers. Victims of two out of the three incidents complained to the police who managed to identify the vandals from evidence gathered from witnesses.

The 4 students aged between 17 and 18 admitted their involvement in the incident. The police is also looking for another 10-15 students who are also allegedly involved and more arrests are expected soon. The government will also pay for the damages that were caused to the victim’s cars.
