Polis Chrysochous camp site won’t be opening for this summer

According to Cyprus Mail, the popular Polis Chrysochous camp site is unlikely to open this year due to a dispute between the Forestry Department and its manager. The area was on lease to Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) which in turn rented it to the manager to operate it as a camp site, the lease has ended in 2010 but the manager refuses to leave the area and has already been illegally using it for at least one year. CTO had to resort to legal action but as it is well known anything that involves courts in Cyprus can take a long time. There is no mention in the article of any information about the manager. Important to note that camping in Cyprus is only allowed in very few enclosed locations, Polis Chrysochous being the most popular of them.
