Traffic police to start towing illegally parked cars

Ministry of Communication and the Association of Municipalities are discussing ways of lifting cars which are parked in main avenues causing traffic problems. TheĀ Road Safety Council examined how similar measures are implemented abroad and one of their suggested ideas is to employ private companies to tow cars that are parked on sidewalks, street corners, and parking spots for disabled. The cars will be transported to a private location and the owners will have to pay a fine plus all the expenses of towing in order to get their car back.

Furthermore the point system will be modified so when a driver accumulates 12 points it will imply immediate suspension of his driver license, whereas with current law suspension is decided by the court.
