No infected cucumbers were imported to Cyprus

Health Minister, Costas Patsalides stated today that no cucumbers infected with E.Coli were imported to Cyprus. He said that after the first incidents, there was an immediate exchange of information between the European Health Authorities and our health services ensured that no infected cucumbers were imported. He also stated that at this period of the year we are using the local production and therefore we should be safe for the time being. At the time this article was being written, 16 people died in Germany and more than 1000 were hospitalized because of the infection, which the source remains unknown. According to German authorities the rate of infection is enormous since in 10 days there were as many cases of E.Coli infection as there are normally in a year.
