Government restructuring begun, all cabinet members resigned

In an emergency Cabinet meeting today, President Demetris Christofias requested the resignation of all its members in order to speed up the government restructuring after the events of July 11th. The process was kick started yesterday with DIKO’s decision to ask its ministers to step down. DIKO is to remain in the coalition government if the president accepts its proposal for a government of broad acceptance. The Government Spokesman, Stefanos Stefanou, said that the president will consult the political parties of the coalition and that the reshuffling will be done as soon as possible. He also stated that the Board of Directors for EAC has been reappointed since their term is expiring on 31st July.
