Greek Cypriots willing to share natural gas revenue with Turkish Cypriots

President Demetris Christofias sent a message yesterday to Turkey and Turkish Cypriots saying that finding a quick solution to the Cyprus problem will be beneficial to everyone. He also gave a guarantee that even before a solution if a revenue is seen from the exploitation of the hydrocarbons in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus, it will be shared between the two communities.

Turkey has sent its navy to patrol Eastern Mediterranean sea claiming that they are looking after the interests of Turkish Cypriots but with the President’s statement yesterday that is no longer a fact meaning Turkey will either need to withdraw or show the real reasons behind their outrage against the exploratory drilling. In the meantime Turkey’s Energy Minister said that a Seismic Exploration Ship will depart today from Turkey following the illegal agreement signed this week with the Turkish Cypriot regime.
